Framework

We have had many enquiries from customers, usually prior to paintwork being carried out, regarding having their frames checked for wheel alignment and serviced. This is a consideration which is vitally important, though often overlooked or neglected. Many motorcycles from the 1950s and 1960s have, at some point in their life, either been attached to a sidecar or been involved in some kind of accident. Thus, if you have any worries about your frame, it would save a lot of time and expense to have it checked out before any major rebuild work begins.

We check wheel alignment on an ex-BSA frame alignment jig  to ensure the swinging arm pivot is perpendicular to the headstock.
We also check the swinging arm for any twist.
The most common repairs we undertake are listed below:-
Frame Repairs
  • Frame and swinging arm alignment check:
  • Frame straightening (depends on nature of damage):
  • Remove seized swinging arm (A + B series), remove silent bloc bushes and press in new bushes:
  • Drill out centre stand mounting lugs (on frame and centre stand) and supply oversize centre stand pin:
  • Repair & weld side stand lug:
  • Fabricate & weld missing brackets
  • Labour to rebuild pair fork legs
